BASES FOR THE 2011 PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST
Pest Control and Public Health Expo 2011
1.Contestants
Amateur or professional photographers, as well as photography students can participate individually, as long as they live in Mexico.
2.Theme
The central theme must be related to one of the following aspects:
- Integrated Pest Management
- Professionals in action, the steps that must be followed by a professional in Pest Control: Monitoring, inspection, control, supervision, evaluation, and communication.
- Harmlessness
- Contaminated food product? Lack of attention to harmlessness at the time of preparing food in kitchen, factories, and other areas that come in contact with food.
- Sustainability
- The industry’s vision towards 2015, sustainability, and the impact on the environment, the image of this matter, it is everything related to innovation, state-of-the-art technology and control systems development (computers and/or operative). In addition, the use of biological control, organic activities, and respect to the environment are key activities in the community’s perception of our activity.
- Public Health
- The different vectors, such as mosquitoes, scorpions, lice, mites. How can they transmit disease? How are they controlled? Where can we find them?
3.Photograph Format
- They may be presented in a digital file, with a minimum pixel dimension of 4000, calculated on the shortest side.
- Each participant can present only one photograph.
- They must be photographs that were not edited before and that have not received a prize at any other competition.
- They must not present logos, or symbols that identify the author with any commercial firm.
4.Place, date and specifications to receive the photographs.
All photographs must be delivered before July 22,2011 at 23:00 hours:

the subject matter must say “photograph for contest”, along with the following data in word format:
- Pseudonym (if it is the author’s choice)
- Complete name of the author (To claim the prize)
- Author’s address, telephone number
- Title of the piece
- Place where it was taken
- Motifs and description of the piece (one page maximum)
- Type of camera and accessories, exposition specifications, resolution, and others, as the case may be.
5.Jury
The photographs will be evaluated by an international jury.
6. Prizes
The three best photographs will receive a prize.
7. Incentives
The jury will determine the winning pieces, but in addition, it will select a set of photographs to be exhibited in public places.
8.Winners
The names of the winners will be announced on August 4, 2011, within the activities of the Pest Control and Public Health Expo 2011.
9. Criteria for awards
The originality, quality and message of the photographs will be considered.
The theme of the photograph must be within the aforementioned topics.
General Criteria
Participation in this contest implies total acceptance of all the guidelines set forth in this calling.
In order to participate in the contest it is necessary to confirm that the photographs and information have been received.
Contestants grant to Expo Control de Plagas S.A. de C.V. the right to use, reproduce, and disseminate the photographs presented at the contest which become finalists and the winner.
Any case that is not considered on the bases herein must be solved by the jury and the contest’s organizing committee.
